Heat Treatment - ISPM-15 Standard
Wood is a natural product, so there is a possibility that it contains organisms such as insects or parasites. If such organisms come along via wooden packaging, this could negatively affect plants or ecosystems. To prevent this spread, wooden packaging is treated in accordance with norm ISPM 15. ISPM15 or “International Phytosanitary Measure 15” is a phytosanitary regulation drawn up by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), a sub-organization of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) . The regulation describes the treatment of wood that is used in the international movement of goods with the aim of killing organisms such as parasites in the wood and applies to solid wood packaging for support, protection or transport of goods.
Heat Treatment / ISPM 15 treatment for pallets
Regarding wooden pallets, the ISPM15 standard means that the pallet must have a Heat Treatment (HT) or Dielectric Heating (DH) treatment to kill the organisms and parasites that would remain in the wood of the pallet.
Paletten Andries has 2 drying chambers in which a Heat Treatment (HT) treatment is carried out. During this Heat Treatment the pallets are heated until a core temperature of at least 56ᵒC is reached for a period of at least 30 minutes. After the treatment, the pallets receives the IPPC mark. Paletten Andries is registered under the number BE 99023. The drying chambers can also be adjusted so that the wood is dried to a residual moisture content of 8%, in order to be able to offer dry pallets to our customers.

Paletten Andries accurately follows this ISO 9001 standard, so that quality can be guaranteed at all times, both in production and in administration.
